The community of Las Vegas was all but devastated by the great recession. The city was ranked either #1 or #2 in housing foreclosures depending on which day and unemployment was the highest in the nation at 14%.
I had heard about a non-profit that helped women who needed clothing for job interviews and basic job skills and thought it the perfect place to help. I was surprised that our community did not have one of the many national chapters of Dress for Success. Surely we needed one and fast! I put my name on the contact list should someone start a chapter.
It wasn’t more than a couple of months before I received a phone call and was asked to join the founding board of Dress for Success of Southern Nevada. As a new nonprofit, we were a very hands on board and I founded our suiting program. Our team answered the need of so many women during the recession that struggled to find a job, a job that would keep them and their families off the streets.
Dress for Success Southern Nevada works tirelessly to support women with programs to build their confidence and their career skills so that they can lead the lives they dream of.
